ABOUT

Alfredo Mena is a photographer born in Zaragoza, Spain, and currently living in Berlin (Germany). He began his career as photographer in 1992, in parallel to his career as a professional ballet dancer. Taking advantage of this point, he has a vast experience as a Stage/Theater and dance photographer, and has worked with most of the very well-known dance and theatre companies in Germany. However, he has also participated in different artistic projects involving photo and video installations for contemporary and experimental pieces for both Opera and Theater. This allowed him to develop a very special aesthetical vision on how to work with the space.
He has also participated in several art exhibitions in Berlin, Dresden, Brasilia, Munich, Magdeburg, and Madrid, as well as in different festivals. Between them, it should be highlighted the “100 Grad Festival Berlin”, and specially the “International Literature Festival Berlin 2009”, in which he presented his own dance-theater piece “ProjektOnetti”, in collaboration with the Instituto Cervantes in Berlin.
In order to improve his formation in some other specific aspects in photography, he has received different courses and seminars in sound and video design in Germany, which have included the processing of digital and analogical photography.
